How to start a nonprofit organisation?

How do I start a non-profit organization? ..aiming for human rights and relief...do I register under the Registrar of Societies? what if I'm going international? do I register under the registrars of the countries i'm participating in? and then could i "go around the world" helping people like that? please help.
